Cultural Heritage of Nepal


 Heritage by definition is a tradition that inherits from one generation to another generation. Nepal has own self cultural heritage. All the cultural heritage made by man. All the culture activities are included in culture heritage like generation or clan, fact of art or craft, goods, activities of technique views, exercises or values, Temples, monuments, monasteries, forts, sculptures image or pictures, manuscript colophon, inscription, manner, customs, rituals, lifestyle, living style, music, dance, dress and ornaments, food and drinks, behavior or habit, communication, language, religion, belief, fest and festivals, structure of villages, historical places, the ruin structure, local tradition, castes, etc.

Here are a lot of culture heritages in Nepal like palaces in the capital of Nepal, Gumbas of Himalayan region , Sworgadwori of pyuthan, Halasi Mahadev of Dharan, Dudhkunda and Gosaikunda of Rasuwa , Manakemana of Gorkha , Tal Barahai and Bindabasani of Pokhara, Lumbini the birth place of Lord Buddha. There are lots of cultural heritages in Nepal. Some are as follows:



1. Lumbini : Lumbini the birthplace of Lord Buddha is presently located in Lumbini zone of Nepal at a distance of 22km west of Siddharta Municipality. King of Kapilvastu Suddhodhan married to Mayadevi the princess of Devdaha and Siddhartha Gautam was born as their child. The exact place where buddha was born was a beautiful resting place in a forest named Lumbini. 
                 The garden was first named Rupadevi in name of queen of Anjana-Rupadevi, later was called Rummindei and finally the name changed to Lumbini. According to Sakya Tradition queen had to give birth to baby in her's father house. Siddhartha became famous as Gautam Buddha after the enlightment and so his birthplace becomes popular as Lumbini. 

2. Krishna Temple :The Krishna Mandir is dedicated to Lord Krishna and was built by Siddhi Narasingh Malla in 1693 B.S. Krishna Mandir is one of the topmost ornamnets of Patan. The temple was built in sikhara style.The temple has three stories, and important scenes from the Ramayan and Mahabharat epics have been carved inside the temple. On the occasion of Krishna Janmasthimi thousands of devotees visit to the temple. 




3. Bhaktapur Durbar Square : Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaun or khwopa is an ancient capital city in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. It was a small Malla state during medieval period, before the unification of Nepal 

                                Bhaktapur is listed as a world Heritage by UNESCO in 1779 for its rich culture, wood, metal and stone artwork. In the inscription issued jointly by Shivadeva and Amsuvarma of 594AD ,the people are addressed to as the inhabitant of khopring Dranga and the inscription is located at Golmadi Tol in present Bhaktapur.

4. Pashupatinath Temple : It is located at 4km northeast of Basantapur Durbar Sqaure on the bank of Bagmati River. Guheswori, migrasthali, Bhandari Basti, Bankali, Devpatan are the most famous places surrounding the temple. 

                       Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most worshipable or venerable historical and important religious sites of Nepal. This temple is related to Gopal Dynasty who was the first ruler of Nepal. Pashupatinath is described in Shiva Puran, Hindu religious epics and many other religious story books.
